Flu Shots Are More Important Than Ever

Updated: Mar 26

Flu season is fast approaching and all the doctors at our CareXpress Urgent Care locations are recommending everyone get a flu shot this season.

Dr. Eric Cox at CareXpress on Georgia says,

“Flu season every year is tough, but with everything else going on, it is crucial that people do everything they can to remain in good health and stay protected.”

Though our doctors always recommend good hygiene every year, we really want to stress its importance this season. Handwashing is so critical! Things like covering your nose and mouth, disinfecting your home often, and getting plenty of sleep every night- these are all a must. Having these be daily habits and getting the flu shot are the best way to keep yourself protected.

“We know the flu vaccine isn’t 100% foolproof, but having the vaccine is your best shot at protection and can greatly reduce the severity of illness in people who get vaccinated but still get sick,” Cox explains.

Flu shots also have many other benefits besides protection from the flu. The CDC says flu shots can reduce the risk of flu-associated hospitalization, are great preventative tools for those with chronic health conditions, protect women during and after pregnancy, and can even be life saving for children.

Our very own Chief Operating Officer, Trevor Spradling, also spoke on flu shots.

“With how important flu shots are this year, we wanted to make them readily available which is why we have them at all of our Amarillo and Canyon locations for free with most insurances.”

The CDC recommends everyone 6 months and up get a flu shot. No appointment is necessary and you can also check-in online to reduce their wait time.
